So, 2022 has just started and might I add that it is a wonderful time to be a fellow gamer with fantastic triple-A and indie titles being released every month. This is the perfect time to get a gaming console for yourself. However, which console should you buy, The PS5 or The Xbox One Series X? Or maybe you’re looking for something more portable, and you’re looking to buy the new Nintendo Switch OLED.
Spending a great amount of time with each console, we can comfortably tell you our favorite. However, whichever console you pick is a great choice as each console has some aspect that caters to someone from smooth gaming performance to stunning graphics and even portability. However, be sure to pick up one of these consoles as soon as possible as they are becoming a rare commodity these days. Supply problems have made it very difficult to obtain the top gaming consoles. Although console restocks are scheduled soon, these consoles will not remain on the shelves for a long time.
THE BEST GAMING CONSOLE CURRENTLY: The Playstation 5
You cannot go wrong with Sony’s newest console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5). The Playstation 5 is a powerful beast of a machine that provides a seamless next-gen gaming experience like none other. The ever-expanding library of exclusive games that showcase the features of Playstation’s new Dual Sense Controller like the Immersive Haptic Feedback and Dynamic Adaptive Triggers only adds to the experience.
From the controller to 3D Spatial Audio and an insanely fast Solid State Drive are some of the few reasons that this console is out of stock almost everywhere as so many people want to snag themselves the PS5 this season. The expectations of this console were unbelievably high as we loved the predecessor, and we can safely say that this console has not only met but exceeded them.
Games-wise, PlayStation continues to have the upper hand with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, and God Of War: Ragnarok already announced while Microsoft fans finally can play the newest installment in the Halo series, Halo Infinite but more on that later.
The DualSense controller was not a major departure from the DualShock controller. The controller has a two-tone design with translucent buttons. There is now an in-built microphone in the controller so the hassle of not having earphones can be overcome. The new “Mute” button on the side of the touchpad can mute the in-built microphone. The lightbar on the previous DualShock controller has been changed to a pop of color around the touchpad which is more subtle. There has been a huge upgrade in haptics with regards to Sony’s controller with the new adaptive triggers. These triggers now allow game developers to add resistance when pushing down on the triggers to emulate real-life actions like pulling a bowstring or accelerating in a car. Personally, The new DualSense controller feels very similar to the DualShock controller which we loved and the new editions added to the controller have definitely improved the overall experience of the Playstation 5.
If we’re talking hardware, the PS5 boasts AMD’s Zen-2 based Central Processing Unit with 8 cores at 3.5 GHz which is a modified version of the AMD Ryzen line. The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is also from AMD and provides 10.28 teraflops of power while handling power-intensive processes such as ray-tracing which provides advanced lighting in games. Similar to the Xbox One X and Xbox One S, it comes with a 4K blue-ray player. The console also has 16 gigabytes of GDDR6 RAM. Although only 667 gigabytes of the 825 gigabytes are available for games, there is an NVMe SSD slot for expandable storage. The PS5 boasts very short loading times with its internal SSD having a read/write speed of 5,500 MB/s. For now, the PS5 is able to run games at 4k at a targeted 30 frames per second, 1440p at 60 fps, and 1080p at 120 fps.
Although technically the Xbox One Series X is more powerful in terms of GPU and CPU the PS5 still delivers in terms of exclusives, the Dual Sense controller, and even performance. If you’re planning on installing your games digitally and want to save a bit of money, you should consider purchasing the Digital Variation of the PS5 which does not come with a disc drive. The general difference is that Blue-Ray HD is out of the question with the digital edition of the PS5. The PS5 currently is very difficult to locate and purchase due to chip shortages and other issues. However, do look out for restocks very soon.

BEST CONSOLE FOR ON THE GO: The Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo switch revolutionizes the gaming experience by possessing the same amount of power you would see in a regular console to something you can take on the go. Although it is already 5 years old, it is still just as popular as its newer rivals. With an amazing lineup of exclusive games and distinctive hardware, this is a console you can’t miss.
The Nintendo Switch hasn’t been designed to run the latest Triple-A titles at 4k/120fps, however, lightly-aged titles like The Witcher 3, NBA 2K20, and even remastered titles like Dark Souls Remastered can be run at a smooth 30 frames per second. However, the Nintendo Switch really shines in its exclusive first-party games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8, The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, and fantastic indie titles like Stardew Valley.
The Nintendo Switch can act as a giant handheld and can also be placed in the dock and mirrored to a TV. It is a great companion console if you already own a Playstation or an Xbox as it can do things these consoles can’t.
The Joy-Cons have a battery life of up to 20 hours and can be charged fully in 3.5 hours. The controllers are very versatile as they can be used together or each one can be used as a single gamepad. The Joy-Cons come with straps that easily slide onto the controllers. Moreover, the console comes with a Joy-Con Grip in which you can slide both Joy-Cons in to emulate the experience of a traditional game controller.
We definitely recommend this console for casual gamers who just want to have fun with friends and family. Regardless of the fact that the Nintendo Switch does not have as much power as the Playstation 5 or Xbox One X Series, the exclusive lineup of games is the aspect that draws in players as you may not see such games on a Playstation Or Xbox One ever.

The Best Microsoft Gaming Console: Xbox One Series X
The Xbox One X Series is Microsoft’s latest console. The brand new design of the console is a major difference compared to its predecessors as it has a more upright form factor similar to that of a Desktop PC, however, the console can be placed horizontally as well. We personally love the new design of the Xbox One X Series as it looks sleek and modern.
When it comes to controllers, the Xbox One Series X’s controller is very similar to the previous models. Differences are very subtle yet it feels better in hand compared to the Xbox One X’s controller with its geometry slightly altered for a better feel in hand and altogether playing experience. The controller has a matte finish similar to the console’s design which makes it look sleek, however, it picks up scratches and scuffs, hence it will be difficult to keep your controller in pristine condition for years. The new “Share” button, in essence, is a capture button by which you can take screenshots of your game with a single click. Furthermore, you can record your screen for a duration of 15 seconds by holding down the button. The new hybrid D-Pad is a mix of the Xbox One Classic Controller’s D-Pad and the Xbox One Elite Controller’s circular and faceted D-Pad. This provides more control and accuracy over the actual functions which is very helpful in games like Mortal Kombat 11 and Injustice 2 where it is an essential button.
When it comes to processing power, the Xbox One Series X takes the cake. This console has the AMD Zen 2 for its CPU with a whopping 8 cores clocked at 3.8 GHz and AMD’s RDNA 2 as the GPU with 12 teraflops. Similar to the PS5, the Xbox One X Series also has 16 gigabytes of GDDR6 memory. In comparison, the Xbox One Series X has more processing power than the Playstation 5. A lot of games that previously ran at a measly 30 frames per second have been now optimized to run at 60 or 120 frames per second like Watch Dogs 2, Far Cry 4, Fallout 4, and lots more!
Just for $14.99 a month, you will receive access to a myriad of games with the Game Pass Ultimate Subscription, in which you not only get Xbox Live Gold allows you to play online but also EA Access where you can download EA games like Titanfall 2, UFC 4, Battlefield 1 and a whole lot more! Truly the Xbox One Series X is a really good investment, with Game Pass Ultimate and this much processing power, providing you with a gaming experience like no other!

THE BEST BUDGET CONSOLE: Playstation 4 Pro
The previous generation of consoles still has access to a top-tier catalog of Triple-A titles so they should be neglected as of yet. Although the Playstation 4 Pro does not match the Playstation 5 or The Xbox One Series X, the price of the console, controllers, accessories, and even games are dropping which makes it very enticing. The PS4 Pro is much easier to find than the PS5 due to chip shortages. The PS4 Pro still promises 4k gameplay for those who own 4k displays. The gaming experience is still stellar with many games enhanced to achieve 60 frames per second.
The major factor in deciding to purchase this console is the price as the PS5 is hard to find and is very costly as people are selling it on the black market at seriously inflated prices which we do not recommend buying. The PS4 Pro still has access to major titles that are out now and there is no shame in purchasing to play with until the PS5 drops in price and becomes more widely available.

THE BEST PREMIUM HANDHELD CONSOLE: Nintendo Switch OLED
The Nintendo Switch OLED is a small upgrade from the original Nintendo Switch as it has a better display. This is a perfect Console for those who are new to the Nintendo Scene.
The OLED screen is a massive improvement over the previous LCD screen. The console uses all of the same accessories like Joy-Cons and micro-SD cards. Not to forget, games as well. All games that were available on the Nintendo Switch are playable on the Nintendo Switch OLED. However, games just look so much better on this console, especially in hand-held mode. The 7.0-inch screen looks vibrant and fantastic.
Side by side comparison. the difference in game quality is noticeable. The Nintendo Switch OLED has an in-built LAN port in which you can plug an Ethernet cable for a smoother online gaming experience and avoid network problems.
The new stand for the Nintendo Switch OLED covers the entire back of the system unlike the older thin and flimsy one on the original Switch. The Nintendo Switch OLED is just an upgraded version of the older switch. The original Switch still does the job but if you really care for game quality and vibrance, we definitely recommend you pick up the OLED Edition of the console.
